I have to say that St. Joe’s is a gorgeous facility. It’s light, airy and filled with amazing staff. The doctor gave the okay for the permanent placement of the shunt. It was scheduled for 2 pm then got moved up to 10:30 am. The neurosurgeon, Dr. Rockiki, told GB that if his earlier patient didn’t show up, he’d schedule the GB surgery earlier.
Who doesn’t show up for neurosurgery?
A few hours later, GB arrived back in his room bald-headed and woozy. You look like Ed Asner I said. Actually, he looks like a lot of bald guys. It’s good he has eyebrows.
They’re thinking they’ll send GB home tomorrow. We’ll see. Here’s what I’ve been told: progress in the gait is first. Then incontinence. Then cognition. All can take months but today is a good first step.
Now the real work begins.
