Chapter 6. Good news.

The key to success in this venture is the opinion of the physical therapist. GB was tested prior to the procedure and then the day after. That’s today. If there is noticeable improvement, then the second surgery will be performed to place the permanent shunt.

The team and I arrived simultaneously. I was nervous. GB was nervous. I think the PT team was rooting for improvement.

As he walked down the hall, his shuffling gait was replaced by feet that left the ground. His small, tentative steps became paces.

No question. The shunt had done its job. The pressure created by the hydrocephalus had been reduced. Significantly.

The next surgery has been scheduled for Wednesday. That’s tomorrow.
